Market Hall Kington

Mapping and Making

Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am to 4pm

"I only went for a walk ..... but stayed out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in."    John Muir

What do maps and the arts have in common?  Both are ways of understanding our world, and our place within it.

In the Market Hall we are unveiling a new walking map of Kington created by artist Rebecca Finney - the Art, Heritage & Nature Walk - and inviting visitors to respond to what they discover along its pathways.

Did you know that Kington now has its own "Mappa Mundi" or Cloth of the World?  This large scale floor cloth of the world, with Kington at its centre, has been created by local artist Kathryn Moore and will be on display for you to see and contribute to throughout the festival.

Also in the Market Hall, you will have a chance to engage in still life drawing of "Fly: the Walking Dog of Kington", create a world in clay, try your hand at spinning, watch demonstrations and chat with the artists and makers at work.
