I moved from London to Wales in 1996 and lived on the edge of the Black Mountains. In 2016 I moved to Presteigne and built a house and studio.
The work is in a wide range of materials and I have a special interest in materials and their ability to embody and express ideas. Although there is great diversity there is an underlying thread of landscape.
The reference to landscape is used in the broadest sense whether natural or man-made, the buried and unseen and the landscape of the mind. Having lived below an Iron Age fort I am always conscious of the layers of erosion and accretion that have formed our environment.
There is a special interest in water and this sparked my interest in both paper and glass for their expressive abilities. I try to remain sensitive to environmental issues and limit polluting processes.
Drawing plays an important role in the work ranging from small to extra-large. And currently the work is moving from themes of connection and continuity towards imperfection and erosion.
