Marches Makers Festival Artist 2021
Corisande Albert
Like many others I came to pottery late and fell instantly for the life-enhancing, meditative process of throwing and the honest, beautiful pieces that can emerge from the kiln. Made from porcelain and glazed with a combination of celadon and wood ash glazes, each piece is unique and fired in a small reduction kiln built on a design devised by the Chinese potter Li Ming Zhang. In collaboration with Simon Hulbert and Bill Prince we heat the kiln to 1400 degrees Celsius in less than three hours using a mix of wood and charcoal - making reduction firing both more manageable and sustainable for the environment.
