Marches Makers Festival Artist 2022
Gillian Tennant-Eyles
Exhibiting at Made in the Marches Gallery
I came to clay later in life, via a degree in history, followed by thirty years as an architect, before discovering ceramics on a Foundation Diploma at Hereford College of Art. Once smitten, I was driven to pursue ceramics further, on a degree course at Wolverhampton University's School of Art and Design.
I am continually excited by the potential of clay, and frequently experiment with different clays, processes and firings. While I draw my creative inspiration from the natural environment, I also like to encourage and emphasise the random effects which are inherent in ceramic processes and materials, and which give an unpredictable and organic character to my work. My current work explores the textures and colours of the wild seashore.
