The Kington Art Society (KAS) meets every Thursday afternoon at Kingswood Village Hall (the hall is fully accessible), Kingswood Road, Kington, HR5 3HE (near the Small Breeds Farm), between 1.30 and 4.00 pm. There are 34 members and about half attend on a regular basis to paint in a variety of mediums and to share their love of art.
KAS has visiting artists who either give a demonstration or take a class. In addition, visits to art venues are also arranged. Members are friendly, and many enjoy the social side of our meetings. Refreshments are served mid-afternoon (cost £1.00). It is an opportunity to share experiences and comment on one another’s work. Everyone is very supportive and always very helpful. Wednesday 22nd April: Visit and afternoon tea at Sidney Nolan Trust.
Thursday 18th June: Collage and Ink a demonstration by Kathryn Moore.
Wednesday 8th July: Annual outing to Powis Castle, Nr Welshpool, Powys (National Trust) - furnished with sumptuous fabrics and exquisite works of art from around the world, as well as amazing terraced gardens. Visitors welcome.
Thursday 24th September: Buildings. A demonstration in Gouache by Matthew Wood, artist in residence at Judges Lodgings, Presteign.
Thursday 5th November: Portraits, a practical workshop in pastels by Kathryn Moore.
