Made in the Marches Gallery is a venue to celebrate and showcase the work of both established and emerging artists and makers, living and creating in the Marches of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Powys.
Themed and seasonal exhibitions offer a diverse and changing collection of art and craft, reflecting the talent and essence of the region. "Small is Beautiful" is the theme for May and June in the Gallery to run alongside the Marches Makers Exhibition of Miniatures. After the Festival, some of the works of art will be on show in the gallery as part of this themed exhibition. |

Walkers are Welcome In addition to our exhibition and taster sessions, we are hosting a display of designs for the Walkers are Welcome banner. Walkers are Welcome is a nationwide initiative to encourage towns and villages to participate in encouraging people to benefit their physical and mental health and well being through walking. Kington is a member of this organisation (you may have seen their sticker in some of our shop windows) and this year we are their featured town. To celebrate this, we have been invited to submit a small textile square to be part of their patchwork of textile tiles from other towns and villages. |
People in Kington have been asked to submit drawn designs based on "What Kington means to you" and all the designs are being displayed in an exhibition in the Made in the Marches Gallery during the Marches Makers Festival.
When the winners have been announced, a selected textile artist will be asked to create a "tile" from the design for inclusion in the Walkers are Welcome Wall Hanging.
