I have always been interested in surface texture and for the past ten years have worked mostly in fleece integrating silk and vintage cottons into fine scarves and making heavily textured hats and upholstered functional furnishings.
Whilst completing an MA in Contemporary Applied Crafts I have used clay as a faster medium to test textures and trial shapes using found objects and laser cut designs. As a qualified teacher I enjoy sharing a variety of mixed media skills and enabling students to relax, play and test ideas before constructing a satisfying object.
